INSTANT mission proposal

Dear UKSP community,
As you may have seen, a call for a joint ESA-CAS small-class mission (S2) has been released.
If you are interested in joining the team for the proposed INSTANT (INvestigation of Solar-Terrestrial Activity aNd Transients) mission, please read the email below.
In summary, INSTANT proposes an innovative space observatory at the Lagrangian L5 point for the study of the Sun-Earth interactions.
INSTANT is led by Benoit Lavraud from the Research Institute in Astrophysics and Planetology (IRAP), France, and Ying Liu from the State Key Laboratory of Space Weather, China.
I encourage you to please register your interest on the mission website.
Best wishes,
Jackie

The proposal submission deadline (16 March) and all other related information such as boundary conditions can be found there.

We are planning to propose a mission concept, called INSTANT (INvestigation of Solar-Terrestrial Activity aNd Transients). INSTANT proposes an innovative space observatory at the Lagrangian L5 point dedicated to the observation of the Sun-Earth interaction. INSTANT will provide novel observations and address fundamental questions in solar, heliospheric and space weather sciences. The launch of this S-class mission is scheduled for 2021 and the nominal science operations will last 3 years.

The INSTANT mission website is: https://instantmission.wordpress.com/

Please consider joining the team. This may be done by just entering your information online at the “Join us” page of the website.

Best regards,

Benoit Lavraud and Ying Liu
