Dear colleagues,

I am writing to invite you to a Town Meeting in the BP Lecture Theatre at the British Museum, London, from 2pm-4.15pm on Wednesday 4 February 2015.

This is your opportunity to join me, members of STFC’s Executive Board, Science Board and Panels, to get an update on matters of importance including possible future funding scenarios post-election, developments in grants, studentships, etc., and for you to provide your thoughts on how we are doing and where we are going. To ensure as open a dialogue as possible, media are excluded from the Town Meeting.

STFC is committed to regular engagement with our communities, to ensure maximum input to our programme, strategic direction and future plans. Unfortunately in 2015 the regular round of STFC Town Meetings in April-June will fall within the purdah period or after the election, and we are aware of the value of an additional briefing before the election on current developments, including possible timings of the Comprehensive Spending Review. The timing of this event has been chosen to avoid clashes with closing dates for grant rounds.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in February for what I hope will be a lively discussion.
