Royal Astronomical Society Early Career Poster Exhibition – Registration

This September, we at the Royal Astronomical Society are hosting our very first online poster exhibition!

With many conferences cancelled this year, we are providing this opportunity for early career researchers (ECRs) and professionals to showcase their work on the RAS website. The competition is open to all ECRs in Astronomy & Geophysics. In this case, an ECR is defined as someone within 5 years of being awarded their last degree.

It is free to participate, you don’t have to be a RAS Fellow, and you can be based anywhere in the world. There will be awards for the best entries across different categories, as judged by a team of senior RAS fellows.

We encourage submissions spanning astronomy, space science, education, geophysics, outreach, diversity & inclusion. We welcome entries from students to research fellows and lecturers, to education and outreach professionals.

‘Posters’ will be up to 4-slide PDF submissions in A4 landscape format (with no moving graphics or interaction) of no more than 5 MB in total.

We will also require plain language summaries to go along with your slides, to ensure that the posters are accessible to everyone. The plain language summaries can be up to 600 words – the audience will include people from many different fields and backgrounds (including non-specialists) so consider this when writing your summary.

The poster slides and summaries will be required by Thursday 10th September, and they will then be made public on the RAS website from 14th September. After the entries have been made public, you may also upload your poster to Twitter, with the hashtag #RASposter2020.

If you would like to participate, you must register via this form by the 24th August. Those approved to participate will be given instructions before the end of August, on how to upload their poster and plain language summaries.

Please note that all participants in the poster competition must adhere to the RAS code of conduct: https://ras.ac.uk/membership/membership-fellows/code-conduct
