Postdoctoral Position at the University of Reading

PDRA in Space Environment Physics (Reference number SF06561)

We seek a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Space Environment Physics who will conduct research into the wave-particle interactions that drive electron acceleration in Earth’s Outer Radiation Belt. The research will be accomplished through the further development of numerical kinetic plasma models, and the analysis of state-of-the-art spacecraft observations. The project is funded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council and support is available for up to three years.

The Space and Atmospheric Electricity group at Reading performs cutting-edge research in the science of Space Weather. One of our aims is to use our new scientific advances and expertise to inform novel techniques for Space Weather and Space Climate forecasting. You will be employed in the department of Meteorology at the University of Reading at Grade 6 level (starting salary £28,695 to £33,242 per annum). The start date for the position is 1st April 2015, or soon thereafter. The closing date for this position is 11th February 2015, and we will interview candidates on 2nd March 2015.
