Two open-ended vacancies in heliospheric physics

Applications are invited for two full-time, open-ended positions in heliospheric physics in the RAL Space Department of STFC’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. The successful candidates will initially work on the EU-funded FP7 HELCATS (Heliospheric Cataloguing, Analysis and Technique Service) project, and other closely-related projects, but will also be expected to develop/maintain a strong scientific profile by undertaking personal research. The main objectives of HELCATS relate to the creation, analysis, validation and dissemination of catalogues pertaining to plasma density structures in the solar wind, in particular coronal mass ejections and stream/co-rotating interaction regions. The salary would be in the range £28,384 (RC-D Minimum) – £37,534 (RC-E Standard Pay) per annum, dependent on experience. Both posts are available immediately.
