St Andrews – Research Assistants (2) in Solar Physics (Ref SB1655)

The Solar and Magnetospheric Theory Group has an opening for two Postdoctoral Research Assistants to work in the field of solar physics. The project will be led by Prof I De Moortel and applications are sought to work in the areas of coronal heating and/or MHD wave processes. Experience with running and analysing large-scale numerical simulations on parallel computers and/or analysing observational data is highly desirable. You should have completed or expect to obtain shortly a PhD in solar physics or a closely related subject.
The posts are initially for a term of 2 years with further extensions possible up to 5 years. The start date will be 1 October 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Salary: £25,513 – £27,864 per annum* (*Applications will be considered from candidates with more post-doctoral experience and/or knowledge of the area for appointment on Grade 6, salary range £31,342-£32,277 per annum, with the duties to be agreed and altered accordingly.)
