Two STFC funded Postdoctoral Research Fellow posts in the Centre for Geophysical and Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics at the University of Exeter

Applications are invited for two Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) funded projects at the University of Exeter

Post 1: Nonlinear frequency averaging in mean-field dynamo theory working with Prof. Beth Wingate and Dr. Joanne Mason
In this three-year project the successful applicant will be involved in the development of a new mean-field dynamo theory based on nonlinear frequency averaging (rather than time or space averages)
Application details can be found on this webpage: https://jobs.exeter.ac.uk/hrpr_webrecruitment/wrd/run/ETREC107GF.open?VACANCY_ID=834335KcOF&WVID=3817591jNg&LANG=USA
For informal enquiries please contact Beth Wingate (b.wingate@exeter.ac.uk), and Joanne Mason (j.mason@exeter.ac.uk).

Post 2: Dynamics and dissipation of shocks in the partially ionised chromosphere led by Dr. Andrew Hillier
In this three-year project the successful applicant will be involved with developing and performing multi-fluid simulations of shocks in the solar chromosphere, understanding their observational signatures and comparing the results with solar observations.
Application details can be found on this webpage: https://jobs.exeter.ac.uk/hrpr_webrecruitment/wrd/run/ETREC107GF.open?VACANCY_ID=214597KcOF&WVID=3817591jNg&LANG=USA
For informal enquiries please contact Andrew Hillier (a.s.hillier@exeter.ac.uk)

Please refer to the websites for further details on these projects and the application forms. Both posts are available from 1st April 2018, but the start date is flexible and could be delayed up until 1st October 2018 at the latest. The closing date for applications is the 19th February.
