2 PhD positions and 1 postdoc position at KU Leuven (Belgium)

The Centre for mathematical Plasma Astrophysics (http://wis.kuleuven.be/CmPA)  of the KU Leuven (Belgium) invites applications for two PhD positions and one postdoc position within ongoing projects.

1) PhD position in multi-fluid modelling of the solar atmosphere with  COOLFLUID. Your research will be about developing novel multi-fluid plasma  models for studying phenomena in the solar atmosphere within COOLFluiD, (https://github.com/andrealani/COOLFluiD/wiki) a world-class open source platform for massively parallel multi-physics simulations entirely written in C++.
This post is under the supervision of Stefaan Poedts and Andrea Lani.

2) PhD position for the analysis of Solar Orbiter data. The focus will be on  the detection of high frequency oscillations in the EUI data, with the aim of getting a better grasp at the wave power in this frequency range.
This post is under the supervision of Tom Van Doorsselaere in the context of  the ERC grant BOSS-WAVES.

3) Postdoc position in 3D modelling of wave heating of the corona. The project  will study the heating of the solar corona by the non-linear evolution of transverse waves, using 3D numerical simulations. Specifically, the project will use the obtained heating in our recent simulations and work towards a 3D modelling of entire active regions.
The post is in the team of Tom Van Doorsselaere in the context of his ongoing ERC grant BOSS-WAVES.

The deadline for all the positions is 7th of June 2020, with an expected  starting date of 14th of September 2020 or soon thereafter.

Application for the posts is through the online forms to be found in the links above.
