Fully-funded PhD studentships in Solar Physics at University of Exeter

January 3, 2018, from Andrew Hillier

The Centre for Geophysical and Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics (CGAFD) at the University of Exeter is advertising two fully-funded PhD studentships in Solar Physics, each for 3.5yr, starting in October 2018. The students will have a degree in Physics, Mathematics, Natural Sciences or other numerate discipline.

One project will investigate plasma and dynamical properties using the complementary multi-spacecraft observations titled ‘Multi-spacecraft investigations of solar and heliospheric plasmas’. This project will be supervised by Dr. Claire Foullon. Contact Dr. Foullon (c.foullon@exeter.ac.uk) for informal enquiries. Funded by STFC.

The other project will use numerical simulations to investigate the role of partially ionised plasma on the dynamics of the solar chromosphere titled ‘Modelling the Partially Ionised Solar Chromosphere’. This project will be supervised by Dr. Andrew Hillier. Contact Dr. Hillier (a.s.hillier@exeter.ac.uk) for informal enquiries. Funded by the University of Exeter.
