Announcement of the UK Solar Instrumentation and Facilities Forum and UKSP Early Career Researcher Workshop, April 20th and 21st at Northumbria University

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce two successive meetings in April (20th and 21st) held at Northumbria University in Newcastle:

UK Solar Instrumentation and Facilities Forum, Friday 21st April 2023

The next UK Solar Instrumentation and Facilities Forum (previously known as the UK Missions Forum, which was held for many years until 2019) will occur on Friday 21st April 2023 at Northumbria University in Newcastle.

The meeting will be used to discuss current and future instrumentation projects and bring together different representatives from the solar community, STFC panels and UKSA. In particular, we will discuss

  • Projects in operation and in development
  • Horizon scanning future projects
  • Strategy/planning/updates from UKSA/STFC
  • New opportunities with CubeSats and UK spaceports (and links with industry)

Please contact the organising committee if there is a project you feel we should include.

UKSP Early Career Researcher Workshop, Thursday 20th April 2023

The UK Solar Instrumentation and Facilities Forum will be held as part of a two-day meeting, after the UKSP Early Career Researcher (ECR) Workshop on Thursday 20th April 2023 at Northumbria University in Newcastle.

The UKSP ECR Workshop provides an opportunity for early career researchers (PhD or 5 years or less after PhD excluding career breaks) to promote their work to their peers and to the community as a whole. Although the presentations are limited to ECRs, we encourage all members of our community to attend in-person or online.

UKSP Council

Next week, we will send out attendance information for both days (there will be no registration fee for either meeting) and an abstract submission template for the UKSP Early Career Researcher Workshop

We will also provide information about financial support for ECRs (particularly to spend an extra night in Newcastle to attend the UK Solar Instrumentation and Facilities Forum).

We look forward to inviting the community to Newcastle in April. We hope you can visit in person but we should be able to provide an online option for both meetings
