NAM 2022 Session: Dynamics of waves and jets in the era of high-resolution observations

We are pleased to announce the session, “Dynamics of waves and jets in the era of high-resolution observations”, at the RAS National Astronomy/UKSP Meeting – 2022, which will take place during 11 – 15 July 2022, at Warwick, United Kingdom.

This dedicated session will focus on recent developments in the understanding of MHD wave physics and the associated role of ubiquitous magnetic jets in the lower solar atmosphere. Theoretical and observational aspects of MHD waves (e.g., ion-neutral effects, phase mixing, instabilities, resonant absorption) and jets (e.g., generation, energy transport) will be discussed in context of ongoing (SDO, IRIS, Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, SST, GREGOR, BBSO) and upcoming high-resolution observations (e.g., DKIST, MUSE). We aim to bring together a combination of international and UK researchers (experienced and early-career) with diverse expertise (theory, simulations, observations) to explore key mechanisms associated with jets and MHD waves. Early-career researchers (PhD students and postdocs) are especially encouraged to present their results in a stimulating environment.
