RAS SD Meeting “Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics in the Solar Atmosphere and Interior” (11 October 2024) – Call for Abstracts

Dear colleagues,

The abstract submission for our RAS SD Meeting “Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics in the Solar Atmosphere and Interior” is now live, with a preliminary deadline of 22 September 2024. The online form can be accessed via:

https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/physics/research/cfsa/people/broomhall/ras_nonequilibrium/

The meeting will be held in London, on 11 October 2024, in a hybrid format. The topics to be covered in the meeting include:

– Thermal instability and thermal misbalance
– Thermal non-equilibrium in the solar atmosphere
– Coronal rain and prominences
– Chromosphere-corona mass and energy flows (associated with these instabilities)
– Magnetic reconnection (in the context of thermal instability and non-equilibrium)
– Non-adiabatic surface effects in helioseismology and connections to the atmospheric dynamics

Organisers: Dr Dmitrii Kolotkov (University of Warwick), Dr Patrick Antolin (Northumbria University), Dr A.-M. Broomhall (University of Warwick).

More meeting details, including the registration form (TBD), can be found at:

https://ras.ac.uk/events-and-meetings/ras-meetings/non-equilibrium-thermodynamics-solar-atmosphere-and-interior

Admission fees are levied on non-members attending RAS Specialist Discussion Meetings. Fees are paid during the registration process. Admission charges are £15 (£5 for students).

We look forward to receiving your abstracts and to the meeting itself.

Questions/queries can be emailed to D.Kolotkov.1@warwick.ac.uk.

Best regards,
