GREGOR – Call for Observing Proposals 2023A (April to August 2023)

GREGOR is a 1.5-meter on-axis solar telescope at the Observatorio del Teide in Tenerife that is operated in PI mode. We invite proposals for the first season campaign (April to August 2022), at GREGOR in 2023, with the submission deadline on January 20, 2023, at 12:00 (CET).

Instrumentation available in 2023A:
1. GRIS Spectro-polarimeter in near-infrared at wavelengths 1.0–1.3 or 1.5–1.8 microns. Modes: Slit-scanner (64arcsec x 0.26arcsec simultaneously, 64arcsec x60arcsec scanned) or Image slicer- IFU (FOV: 3”x6” simultaneously, 60”x60” scanned). Simultaneous H-alpha and continuum Slitjaw images are available if the 650nm beam splitter is used.
2. The upgraded High-resolution Fast Imager (HiFI+) consists of three camera control computers with two synchronized sCMOS cameras each. HiFI+ offers near-diffraction limited imaging at the high cadence in sin spectral windows: Ca II H, G-band, blue continuum, broad- and narrow-band H-alpha, and TiO.

Please see our website for the current capabilities and restrictions.

The allocation time is distributed as follows:
1. KIS time: Application via kis_tac@leibniz-kis.de. Eligibility: Any researcher with no restriction on institute/nationality can apply for observing time if at least one collaborator from KIS is included in the proposal.
2. The remaining time is reserved for the partners. The proposal form for KIS time and more information on the instrumentation can be found here: https://www.leibniz-kis.de/en/observatories/gregor/observations-with-gregor/ and on the “Scientific instruments” page.

Proposal submission for SOLARNET, CCI, and Spanish time is announced in separate calls.

The German consortium will offer on-site or remote observations on all days including weekends. The PI will be able to conduct observations remotely with the support of assistants present at the observatory in Tenerife or remotely assisting from Germany.
