Launch of STFC Visions

We’re delighted to let you know about the launch of STFC Visions.

STFC Visions aims to identify ground-breaking, early-stage concepts that have the potential to be developed into ambitious initiatives and infrastructures, transforming the research and innovation landscape and shaping the future of our economy and society.

There is no direct funding attached to Visions and it does not seek to replace standard funding channels and mechanisms. Therefore we are only accepting concepts that fall into the following two categories into the Visions scheme:
1. Research and Innovation concepts: it is anticipated these concepts will be of a scale greater than £5 million; be inter- or multi-disciplinary; require new collaborations; and will be driven by UKRI or government strategic priorities
2. Infrastructure concepts: Multi and single discipline infrastructure concepts will be in scope for Visions as long as there is a key benefit for the research and innovation community; the concept can provide national or international level capability; and will lead to a large capital project with the total costs of the UK contribution likely to exceed £15 million

By developing a pipeline of concepts STFC will be able to support its communities by being better placed to respond to strategic opportunities as they arise.
