Royal Society-Science Foundation Ireland University Research Fellowships

The Solar Physics & Space Weather Group at Trinity College Dublin would like to invite candidates to apply to hold a Royal Society-Science Foundation Ireland University Research Fellowships at Trinity. The RS-SFI scheme is a new scheme that has recently been launched in Ireland.

The Group’s interests include solar flares and coronal mass ejections, active region evolution, space weather, and solar radio astronomy. The Group are involved in many ground- and space-based observatories such as SOHO, RHESSI, PROBA2, STEREO, SDO and LOFAR. Applicants from these or complementary areas, such as theoretical solar modelling, space weather or solar-terrestrial physics, are encouraged to apply.

The RS-SFI scheme is for outstanding scientists who are in the early stages of their research career and have the potential to become leaders in their field. Those appointed are expected to be strong candidates for permanent posts in universities or research bodies at the end of their fellowships. Successful candidates will be awarded a fellowship by the Royal Society, the cost of which will be met by Science Foundation Ireland.

The deadline for applications is September 3, 2015. Further details can be found at http://goo.gl/BouZ1j or by contacting Prof. Peter Gallagher (peter.gallagher@tcd.ie).
