Salary: £37,099 to £44,263 pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Location: College Lane campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield
The post is available from 1 April 2024 and the successful candidate will ideally be in post as soon as possible, and no later than 1 October 2024.

Applications are invited for a 36-month postdoctoral position to lead and publish original scientific research in the area of solar flares. The successful applicant will develop computational models of energetic particle acceleration and transport in solar flares aiming at interpreting observational data from several space missions (such as Solar Orbiter and Parker Solar Probe) and ground-based facilities (such as LOFAR).

You will have an impressive track record of research in a relevant area of expertise, including quantitative research methods and analysis, experience of scientific programming and use of high-performance computing. You will also have a record of publishing scientific research in leading astronomical and/or physical journals. You will ideally have experience of developing magnetohydrodynamic, kinetic or hybrid models of hot plasmas. Experience of analysing observational data is highly desirable.
