ESWW2023 REMINDER of Open Calls for Sessions.

Dear Colleagues.

This is a reminder of the session calls which close on 12th April 2023 – the full details are given below and submissions can be completed here: https://esww2023.org/submission-form – please don’t leave it until the deadline to submit (don’t delay, submit today)!

Each year, during the European Space Weather Week (ESWW) conference, people from all over the world gather to discuss the newest insights and state-of-the-art in space weather and space climate; endeavouring to address the challenges and impacts of space weather. Science, data exploitation, observations, service development, operational models, engineering, instrument and platform developments, data pipelines, industrial challenges, etc…, are all relevant and some of the most important aspects of space weather.

The overarching theme for ESWW2023 in Toulouse, France (20-24 November 2023) is ‘Bringing Space Weather, Space Climate and Engineering Together’, with a number of session topics reflecting this theme. The conference will be held once again in hybrid format and the conference website is available here: https://esww2023.org/ – please keep check for periodic updates.

One of the strengths of the conference is that the participants can contribute significantly to its content. Those interested in convening a session at ESWW2023 may submit a proposal for a session in one of the three formats:

Plenary sessions: https://esww2023.org/call-for-plenary-session-proposals;
and
Parallel Space Weather Research sessions and parallel 100% Community-Driven sessions: https://esww2023.org/call-for-parallel-session-proposals-swr-100cd;
for further information on the plans and expectations for these session types please visit the meeting website.

When submitting a session proposal, the following information is required:
– the topic/title of the session;
– name(s), affiliation(s), and E-Mail address(es) of the conveners; and
– session abstract (max. 1,500 characters).

There are some further details depending on the type of the session for which the submission applies. Diversity in conveners is encouraged, and the successful conveners will need to have at least one session chair that can attend in person, in Toulouse (although this can be decided at a later stage). The ESWW Programme Committee (PC) will decide which of the submitted sessions are accepted. The PC strongly encourages those who have not previously submitted to convene a session to do so. Session conveners will be notified by mid-May of the outcome(s) of their submission(s).

Kind regards, and best wishes,
Mario M. Bisi (PC Chair) and Alexis Rouillard (LOC Chair),
on behalf of the ESWW2023 PC.
