PDRA position at Aberystwyth University (STFC-funded project in Solar Physics)

Grade 7, 3-yr fixed term

Closing date 13/04/2022

This post requires a highly motivated person to undertake research tasks on an STFC-funded post in solar atmospheric physics. The PDRA will be a member of the Solar System Physics research group within the Physics Department at Aberystwyth, under the direct supervision of Dr. David Kuridze. The project involves study of the fine-structure magnetism of the solar chromosphere and corona using high resolution spectro-polarimetric observations and advanced modelling techniques. The post holder will provide the analysis and interpretation of ground and space-based solar observations including inversions of spectro-polarimetric profiles to gain insight into the physical conditions of the solar atmosphere. Applicants must have a PhD (or pending) in Solar Physics or related subjects, including a suitable knowledge of solar/stellar spectroscopy, and radiative transfer techniques. Experience of the IDL and/or Python programming languages will be needed for this post.
