Research Fellow in Stellar Atmosphere Modelling — University of Warwick

The University of Warwick seeks to appoint a motivated and driven Research Fellow within the Astronomy and Astrophysics Group to commence as soon as possible with years of 3 funding. Backgrounds in solar or stellar physics are preferred, especially in the area of stellar modelling; areas outside these are encouraged if they complement the project. Experience with exoplanet science is desirable.

The successful candidate will work with Dr Heather M. Cegla on the “Pathway to the Confirmation and Characterisation of Habitable Alien Worlds,” funded by the UK Research and Innovation Future Leaders Fellowship programme. They will utilise state-of-the-art 3D magnetohydrodynamical simulations and perform spectral line synthesis to create realistic stellar surface simulations. The aim is to further our understanding of exoplanet hosts and improve the radial velocity detection and mass confirmation of low-mass, long period planets.
