Call for abstracts for NAM 2016 Session: “Structure and Dynamics of Magnetic Fields in the Sun, Solar System and Beyond”

Deadline: 8th April

Session title: Structure and Dynamics of Magnetic Fields in the Sun, Solar System and Beyond

This session invites contributions from Solar Physics, Magnetospheric Physics and Astrophysics on the structure and dynamics of magnetic fields. Magnetic fields facilitate the transport, storage and release of energy, and are therefore essential for understanding the behaviour of stars, planetary magnetospheres and astrophysical objects in general, and our Sun and Earth in particular. The focus of this session will be state-of-the-art modelling and observations of generic structures of magnetic fields and energy transport and release mechanisms. This also includes observational consequences such as heating and acceleration of particles or flows due to dynamic events driven, for example by magnetic reconnection.
