Ryan Milligan (Candidate for Staff Position)

Since graduating with a PhD in Solar Physics from Queen’s University Belfast in 2006, much of my research has focused on space-based observations of solar flares, particularly of the chromosphere, in order to understand the plasma conditions during these energetic events. More recently I have begun to investigate the response of the terrestrial atmosphere due to changes in solar irradiance caused by flaring activity. I would hereby like to be considered for membership of the UK Solar Physics Council. I believe my years of experience could be beneficial in supporting the interests of the solar physics community, in particular for students and early-career researchers within our field.
